There's no shortage of Modernist architecture in Palm Springs, but this house, built for interior designer Arthur Elrod, is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable and famed examples. Built in the Southridge neighborhood in 1969, architect John Lautner excavated the hillside to expose the boulders that now form one of several dramatic focal points of the massive circular living room. The indoor/outdoor experience demonstrates Lautner’s exemplary ability to fuse nature and architecture. This night rendering captures the essence of the space with minimal detail- if you know the house you’ll recognize it right away. If you don’t, it will pique your interest to learn more about it (tip: it’s in a James Bond movie too!). This fine art Giclee print on 100% Natural Rag archival paper expresses in detail the color and texture of the hand-drawn, color pencil original drawing.
