Roy's Motel and Cafe, Amboy California
Roy's Motel and Cafe, Amboy California
Limited Edition, signed and numbered Fine Art Giclee Print
Amboy, California - located about 60 miles northeast of Twentynine Palms, CA., became a popular destination after the opening of U.S. Route 66 in 1926. Today, this ghost town is still anchored by Roy's Motel and Cafe, a service station for tourists traveling along the remnants of the historic highway. In the '80s and '90s, Amboy became a popular film destination, appearing in films such as "The Hitcher" and "Kalifornia." I’ve been here myself- it’s a truly special and slightly weird place - the open road, no lights and there’s nothing but trains. It’s miles of open desert. My drawing of the iconic “Roy’s” sign was a labor of love and like the place itself, has been a very popular piece. This fine art Giclee is printed on 100% Natural Rag archival paper and expresses in clear detail the color and texture of the hand-drawn, color pencil original drawing.
